POWE acknowledges outstanding women each year as nominated by their peers and fellow members. This year our prestigious awards will be presented at the POWE Gala Awards.
~ Member of the Year Award ~
The Member of the Year Award is one of the prestigious honours the POWE organization bestows on members. It is presented to one member per year who has demonstrated outstanding networking by connecting with others in business, attending a variety of chapter meetings and other POWE events and receiving testimonials from other members. She also refers business to others and gives others testimonials when warranted. She has provided support, guidance, inspiration, leadership and networking to POWE members.
In a nutshell, she has freely contributed referrals, testimonials, and connected with various members.

~ Helping Hand Award ~
The Helping Hand Award will be presented to one member per year who has demonstrated a gentle kindness, and giving nature. Someone you can always count on to help, no matter what. She has provided help, guidance, inspiration, and kindness to POWE members. She has freely volunteered for POWE tasks, registration desk, 50/50 ticket sales, POW conference volunteer or conference committee. The POWE Helping Hand assists Chapter Directors where needed and participates in POWE events.

~ Spirit of POWE Award ~
The Spirit of POWE Award will be presented to one member per year who has demonstrated an ability to mentor, guide and inspire others. She has a giving nature, a great speaking voice and teaching ability. She has freely volunteered to be a speaker, has guided, inspired, and shared the wisdom of her life. She refers others to the organization and acts freely as an ambassador for POWE itself. She freely spreads the word about the organization to help all POWE members grow their networks. She participates in POWE events, fundraisers and offers her assistance where needed.

Spirit of POWE Award Winner 2008/2009 ~ Darcelle Runciman
Objectives:

To honour members who best exemplify the POWE Membership philosophies.

To provide a variety of models of networking success.
-
To encourage long-term consecutive membership and participation in the network.
Criteria:
-
Has been a full member in good standing for a minimum of 8 consecutive months prior to being nominated for this award.

Has been nominated by two members that are in good standing, who have filled out the nomination form in full and submitted the form before the deadline.

Nominees must answer each of the five criteria questions and submit it by deadline.

The recipient will be a member who during the past year introduced at least two new prospective members by bringing them to a regular meeting and has attended a minimum of 60% of the regular meetings within the year.

Nominee Exemptions: POWE Chapter Directors, Head Office Directors and POWE Employees.
Selection Process:
-
The Selection Committee reviews all nominations and comprises POWE head office members as well as Chapter directors. Nominations are rated according to pre-determined criteria and the committee may contact nominees, nominators and supporters to confirm information. An Awards ceremony will be held May 28th, 2010 and must be able to attend the awards ceremony, and participate in media and promotion of the Awards.

Every nominee that meets the above criteria will have an award form to fill out to answer questions for the judging process. Those receiving one nomination will not be notified.

Only those nominated that meet the criteria will be notified by email after the selections of the 3 finalists per award are made.

Judges' selections are final and are not subject to any review.

The Nominee finalists will all be recognized for their achievements and the winner will be awarded at the DW Anniversary Meeting.

Recognized at all POWE meetings she attends

Receives spot on website

Noted on the POWEr network and in newsletter as winner with highlights about her

Will be awarded the opportunity to do a spotlight speak at every POWE Chapter during her year (ending April 30th, 2011 even if she has spoken this year)

She will have the opportunity to provide up to 6 blogs or notes for the POWErnetwork as submitted to Tina to post with approval as to relevance. (subject to approval according to guidelines)

She will be given a badge from POWE noting her title as POWE Member of the Year as well as an award

Nominations Rules:

Must be submitted to head office by midnight April 30th, 2010 to be eligible

Nominations must follow the above criteria in order to be eligible

Nominees must give permission to be nominated
-
Nominations can be received via Powe.ca, in person by handing it in to a chapter director, faxed to head office, mailed to head office or dropped off in person to a director or head office.
